Access Recycling was contracted by Aurizon Railways to dismantle and scrap 10 locomotives at their depot in Casino, NSW. The heritage listed site has many sensitive environmental aspects, as well as being an active railway environment. Access Recycling was required to carefully dismantle and remove the locomotives without disturbing the site and adhering to a strict timeframe.
Several of the key components were able to be salvaged and exported to Access Recycling’s overseas railway clients, while the scrap steel was recycled in NSW steel mills. Most importantly, Access Recycling’s experienced team was able to dismantle all of the locomotives onsite and complete the project without any environmental incidents.
