Collection Unit Operator

Access Recycling is an Australian, family owned metal recycling and railway services provider specialising in the collection and processing of scrap from our customers across New South Wales.

We have a team of excavator operators that are supplied with their own truck and float, travelling around NSW to collect scrap metal from farms, factories, mines and railway sites. Our collection team operators move from site to site, prepare the metal for loading and then load our b double trucks that carry it away for further processing.

We are looking to grow our collection team. This role is ideally suited to a person who likes working on their own, arranging their own schedules, and travelling throughout the state with each day being a new site with new challenges. We have well maintained, late model machinery, ideal for the person who takes pride in their work and their machinery.

We would like to hear from you if are someone that has:

  • Minimum HC license
  • The ability to work away from home during the working week (can be up to 4 days a week)
  • Experience operating excavators with a grab or magnet
  • Competency with operating a truck and dog trailer with excavator
  • Experience working in regional NSW
  • The ability to organise your job schedule on a day to day basis
  • The ability to communicate with our customers in a professional manner
  • An excellent attitude and work ethic to operate autonomously
  • Commitment to safety of yourself and others around you
  • Pride in taking care of their machinery

Plant Mechanic

Access Recycling is an Australian, family owned metal recycling and railway services provider with facilities in Canberra and Barmedman.

We are currently seeking an experienced, suitably qualified Plant Mechanic to join our team based at Canberra.

Your main responsibility will be to maintain plant and heavy machinery through inspections, servicing, diagnostics & general repair to meet scheduled deadlines and reduce downtime.

You will be working on a pre-compression scrap metal shear (1050 tonne), material handlers, container forklifts and loaders.

This full-time role will deliver a range of services including but not limited to;

  • Plan, schedule and deliver work for both routine and responsive maintenance
  • Continuously review and prioritise work requirements
  • Ordering maintenance items
  • Spare parts management

The successful applicant would require the following skills and experience;

  • Qualification as a mechanic
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Welding experience
  • Forklift and/or excavator experience an advantage
  • PLC experience will be highly regarded
  • Auto electrical experience
  • A current drivers licence
  • A strong work ethic
  • Great problem solving skills
  • Organised
  • Good communication skills
  • Enjoy challenges

$100K+ per annum including salary, tool allowance, mobile phone reimbursement.

Workshop Assistant (Barmedman)

Access Recycling is an Australian, family owned metal recycling and railway services provider with facilities in Canberra and Barmedman.

We are currently looking for a Workshop Assistant.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake maintenance tasks associated with the various plant and equipment
  • Complete welding repairs and maintenance on various items
  • Provide general labouring support
  • Assist other team members in the performance of their duties
  • Operate and maintain plant, tools and equipment in good order and in accordance with the operator's manuals and procedures
  • Load and unload trucks if required
  • Collect loads when necessary
  • Provide quality customer service to others
  • Refer matters that may impact upon the business and employees to the relevant Supervisor or Manager
  • Undertake other relevant duties as directed, consistent with skills, competence and training

Skills/Competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain plant and machinery consistent with qualifications held/required
  • Knowledge of vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to undertake a wide range of maintenance tasks with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to understand directions and to communicate effectively with others
  • Must be capable of working harmoniously and productively

Mandatory Qualifications, Licences and Experience:

  • HC licence
  • Excavator Experience

Desirable Qualifications, Licences and Experience:

  • Qualified mechanical trade certificate an advantage, but not necessary
